The ground rules for using Wayfinder, and a plain account of how Wayfinder is paid. We think families should know exactly where the money comes from.
How Wayfinder is paid
As of September 28, 2026, no funeral home, cremation provider or other company pays Wayfinder, and there are no partner listings or affiliate links on the site. When that changes, we’ll update this date and label every paid listing and link where it appears.
Wayfinder is free to use. We plan to pay for it in two ways, both described below: partner listings for funeral homes and cremation providers, and possibly affiliate links. Neither one changes anyone’s prices or descriptions, or the order of providers on a city page.
Partner providers
In each city, one funeral home or cremation provider may pay Wayfinder a flat monthly fee to be a Wayfinder partner. The fee is the same every month; it doesn’t depend on what families buy.
What a partner gets
- A labeled partner listing on that city’s page, with a phone number and sometimes a short contact form.
- A monthly report of the calls and messages that came through Wayfinder.
- In the Wayfinder Plan, the first spot among that city’s providers, always labeled “Sponsored.”
What a partner can’t get
- A better position on city pages. Every provider we’ve researched stays listed on its city page, in alphabetical order, whether or not they’re a partner. Apart from the labeled Sponsored spot, the providers the Wayfinder Plan shows are chosen by facts such as the service you need, location and price, never by payment.
- Different prices or descriptions. Partners can’t edit comparisons, remove a competitor, or change how their own prices are shown. They can send us a newer price list, like any provider.
- An endorsement. A partner listing means the provider pays for placement. It isn’t a rating or a recommendation.
- A shared city. We don’t sell the same city to two providers.

Affiliate links
Some guides may one day link to products or services, such as urns or travel protection plans, where Wayfinder earns a commission if you buy. If we add an affiliate link, we’ll label it next to the link itself, not only on this page. An affiliate link never decides which options a guide covers, and we’ll always mention lower-cost choices, including free ones, where they exist.
Information, not advice
Wayfinder is not a funeral home or a cremation provider. It’s also not a law firm, financial adviser, insurer or medical provider. Our pages are general information about funerals, cremation and related costs in Utah. They aren’t legal, financial, tax, insurance or medical advice. For decisions about your situation, talk with a qualified professional.
We work to keep our information accurate and current, and we point to where it comes from, such as providers’ own price lists and government agencies like the VA, the FTC and the State of Utah, so you can check it yourself. Sources can change, so confirm anything important with the provider or agency before you act on it.

Prices can change
We collect prices from providers’ General Price Lists, phone calls, websites and government fee schedules, and we show the date each one was checked. Providers change their prices, and we may make mistakes. The provider’s own current price list is what counts. Ask for it before you decide, and if you see a difference, please tell us so we can fix it.
The Wayfinder Plan
The Wayfinder Plan is a planning aid. It organizes options and published prices based on your answers. It isn’t a quote, a contract or a promise that a provider will offer a service at a given price.
Using this site
- You’re welcome to read, print and share our pages for personal use, and to link to any page.
- Please don’t copy our price data or guides in bulk, republish them as your own, or use automated tools to scrape the site.
- Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content.
Limits of liability and other terms
We work to keep Wayfinder accurate, but the site is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Wayfinder isn’t liable for losses that come from relying on information on the site, including prices that have changed. Your dealings with any funeral home or other provider are between you and that provider.
Wayfinder (wayfinderutah.com) is an independent website based in Utah. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, and any dispute about them will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Salt Lake County, Utah. If we change them, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. By using the site, you agree to the version in effect when you use it.
