Funeral Trust
A funeral trust is a way to prepay a funeral in which your money is held in trust until it's needed.
How it compares
- Funeral trust. Your payments go into a trust for the funeral home.
- Preneed insurance. Your payments buy a policy that pays the funeral home.
- Final expense insurance. A policy that pays a person you choose, with no funeral prices locked.
What to ask
- Who holds the trust, and can you see a statement?
- Can the plan move to another funeral home?
- What happens to any money left over?
