A columbarium is a wall or structure made of small compartments, called niches, that hold urns.
In Utah
Utah cemeteries offer more than wall niches: boulder niches, memory blocks that hold ashes inside a headstone, and cremation benches. Salt Lake City Cemetery has been converting some burial ground to cremation memorials.

Choosing a niche
- Inside or outside. Indoor niches are often glass-fronted. Outdoor niches usually have a stone face with an engraved plate.
- Single or companion. A companion niche holds two urns.
- Size. Measure the urn before buying the niche, or buy the urn to fit.
