Mortuary
A mortuary is another name for a funeral home. The two words mean the same kind of business.
In Utah
Many long-established Utah funeral homes use “mortuary” in their names, like Cannon Mortuary and Salt Lake Valley Mortuary. Others say “funeral home” or “funeral parlor.” The name doesn’t tell you what services or prices a provider offers.

- Crematory. The facility where cremation happens. Some funeral homes run their own; others use a separate crematory.
- Cemetery. A separate business in most cases, even when the same company owns both.
