Witness Cremation
Witness cremation is an option that lets family members be present at the crematory when the cremation begins.
In Utah
On the price lists we collected it’s an add-on or a separate package. Premier Funeral Services adds it for $350 (effective July 15, 2025). Starks Funeral Parlor adds $600, including the funeral coach (effective August 17, 2025). Cannon Mortuary lists witness cremation at $2,100, $200 more than its direct cremation (effective February 1, 2026).
Why families ask for it
Some families want to see the process begin for their own peace of mind. Some faith traditions ask that family be present. Ask whether the provider runs its own crematory, since that affects where and when it can happen.
