A graveside service is a short service held at the cemetery, at the grave, instead of in a chapel. It can follow a funeral held elsewhere, or it can be the only service.

Packages differ in what they include. Premier Funeral Services lists a $2,195 graveside package without the casket or vault (effective July 15, 2024). Cannon Mortuary’s weekday full graveside service is $4,095 (effective February 1, 2026). Cemetery charges are billed separately.
For Latter-day Saint families, the graveside is usually where the grave is dedicated. Winter weather can affect scheduling; ask the cemetery.
Graveside only, or after a funeral
- Graveside only. The whole service happens at the grave. It’s usually shorter and can cost less than a chapel funeral.
- After a funeral. The family and guests travel from the chapel or meetinghouse to the cemetery for a brief committal.
